At Viigo Inc. (“Viigo”), we are committed to protecting your privacy while providing you with a useful and enjoyable wireless Internet experience. As part of our privacy commitment, we have prepared this Privacy Statement to set out the manner in which we collect, use, disclose and otherwise manage the personal information of our users.

When you download using the "Download by e-mail" or "Download by text message" features of our website, we collect your e-mail address or the phone number of your mobile device (as applicable) for the purposes of sending you a link to download Viigo. When you install and use Viigo, we collect your e-mail address and the RSS feeds (e.g. Really Simple Syndication feeds) that are offered to you through Viigo for the purposes of administering your account, delivering RSS feeds and other content to you through Viigo, and sending you any important security, technical support, software update, or software upgrade notices. Because Viigo is advertiser-supported, we also track the advertisements that are displayed to you for the purposes of billing our advertisers and providing aggregated metrics. We may also use information about your RSS Feeds and the articles you access for the purpose of providing you with tailored ads and offers of products and services of interest to you.
Certain features or functions within Viigo require that you create a Viigo profile, which will also enable you to move the Viigo services that you request to different mobile devices. When you create a Viigo profile, we will ask you to choose a password to protect your account. To help us understand our users and continually improve our service offering, we may also request certain optional additional information such as age, gender, interests, income, hobbies etc., which we use for the purposes of better understanding our user base and customizing the Viigo experience to your interests. You do not have to provide us with any optional information to use Viigo.
Viigo enables users to receive third-party password-protected content. To deliver such password-protected content to you, we may ask you to authorize Viigo to use your personal account, on your behalf, and we also may need to collect your username and password for your account with the third party service provider in order to access the secured information as you request. Third-party passwords are always stored on your mobile device, and are never sent to Viigo’s servers. Your third-party accounts are also always accessed directly from your mobile device, and such data never travels through Viigo’s servers. You are always free to revoke your authorization for Viigo to access your third-party service provider account on your behalf by deleting the RSS Feed or service.
When you enter a contest or participate in a promotion, we may collect your postal address. We use this information to administer your participation in the contest or promotion. At the time you enter the contest or promotion, we may obtain your consent to send you future promotional e-mails. If a contest or promotion is jointly sponsored by us and one or more sponsors, your personal information may be shared with such sponsors, as specified at the time of collection of your personal information. We do not control the use of your personal information by other sponsors, and recommend you review their respective privacy statements.
When you register we may also provide you with an opportunity to sign-up to receive future promotional information. If you wish to withdraw your consent for such e-mail communications, please refer to the instructions below. When you contact our Support team, or otherwise contact us with a comment, question or complaint, you may be asked for information that identifies you (such as your name, e-mail address and a phone number) along with additional information we need to help us promptly answer your question or respond to your comment or complaint. We may retain this information to assist you in the future and to improve our product and service offerings.
We do not seek nor will we knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13.
We will not disclose, trade, rent, sell or otherwise transfer your personal information, without your prior consent, except as otherwise set out herein.
We may transfer (or otherwise make available) your personal information to our Viigo affiliates and other third parties who provide services on our behalf. For example, we may use service providers to host our websites and servers, operate certain of its features, serve advertisements, send e-mails, run our contests and promotions, conduct customer research, manage and analyze data and our advertising effectiveness, and process online payments.
Your personal information may be maintained and processed outside of Canada by our Viigo affiliates and other third party service providers. Our service providers are required to implement measures to safeguard your personal information, use it only in compliance with applicable privacy laws, and are prohibited from using or disclosing your personal information for any purpose other than providing the services on our behalf or as otherwise legally required.
Viigo may transfer any information we have about you as an asset in connection with a merger or sale (including transfers made as part of insolvency or bankruptcy proceedings) involving all or part of Viigo or as part of a corporate reorganization or stock sale or other change in corporate control.
Viigo, our affiliates and our service providers must provide your personal information in response to a search warrant or other legally valid inquiry or order, or to an investigative body in the case of a breach of an agreement or contravention of law, or as otherwise required by applicable law. We may also disclose personal information to assist us in collecting a debt owed by you, or otherwise where necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
In general, you can visit our website without telling us who you are or providing us with any information. However, we collect the IP (Internet protocol) addresses of all visitors to our website and other related information such as page requests, browser type, operating system and average time spent on our website. We use this information to monitor and improve our website.
Our website use a technology called "cookies". A cookie is a tiny element of data that our website can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your hard drive so we can recognize you when you return. You may set your Web browser to notify you when you receive a cookie. However, should you decide not to accept cookies from our website, you may limit the functionality we can provide when you visit our website.
Our website and our products may contain links to other sites that we do not own or operate. Also, links to our website may be featured on other websites on which we advertise. In the course of providing Viigo's service to you, we may collect certain personal information related to your device, such as your device type, operating system, and carrier. We use this information to administer Viigo’s servers, troubleshoot, manage bandwidth, optimize the display of our products.
We have implemented measures in an effort to protect the personal information in our custody and control, including providing access to personal information to only those employees and authorized service providers who require such information for the purposes described in this Privacy Statement. We maintain reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards in an effort to protect against unauthorized access, use, modification and disclosure of personal information in our custody and control. Unfortunately, no collection or transmission of information over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and therefore, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any such information.
Online access to certain personal information may be protected with a password you select. We strongly recommend that you do not disclose your password to anyone. We will never ask you for your password in any unsolicited communication (including unsolicited correspondence such as letters, phone calls or e-mail messages).
We keep the personal information of our users for as long as it remains necessary for the purposes stated above or to otherwise meet legal requirements. As a general guide for most purposes outlined above, your personal information will be securely destroyed if you do not use your Viigo account for a six month period.
You have the right to access, update, and correct inaccuracies in your personal information in our custody and control, subject to certain exceptions prescribed by law. You may request access, updating and corrections of inaccuracies in other personal information we have in custody or control by emailing or writing to us at the contact information set out below.
This Privacy Statement may be updated periodically to reflect changes to our personal information practices. The revised Privacy Statement will be posted on the website. We will use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Statement in place at the time of collection of such information, or as you otherwise consent or permitted by law.
