You can run Viigo as a guest user or you can create a Viigo account. Creating a Viigo account ensures your content and services are preserved should you: re-install; upgrade your device’s operating system; or change devices. Having a Viigo account also gives you the flexibility of managing your content and services on MyViigo from your personal computer.
How do I create a Viigo account?
As of today, you can only create a Viigo account from your handheld device.
To create an account:
1) Run Viigo.
2) Click Menu > Options > Account.
3) Click Menu > Create a New Account.
4) To create an account, follow the steps in the New Viigo Account Wizard.
You will be sent a Viigo Registration email.
5) Click the link provided in the email to validate your account.
I have created a Viigo account. Why have I not received an email confirming my registration?
If you have not received your Viigo registration email within 15 minutes, check your Spam and/or Junk Mail folder. If it’s not in either of these folders, follow these instructions:
1) Run Viigo.
2) Click Menu > Options > Account.
Note: Verify that your email address is correct. If it not correct, submit a support ticket.
3) Click Menu >Resend Verification Message.
I have already validated my Viigo account. Why does my account information (within Viigo) indicate that my email isn't validated?
If this happens you should refresh the account information on your device.
To refresh account information:
1) Run Viigo.
2) Click Menu > Options > Account.
3) Click Menu>Refresh Account Information.
Why am I not receiving the validation email?
Most Viigo users receive our validation emails without any issues. However, users on any Earthlink domain may experience problems due to the constraints of the system we use to send the validation email which is different than the system we use for support email. Unfortunately, this is not something we can not resolve on our end.
That said, you can try one of two possible fixes:
1) Add registration@viigo.com to your address book.
2) If possible, use a different email address as your primary Viigo address.
Note: We encourage all of our users to validate their account; it will make it easier for you to retrieve your account information in the future.
Why is my user name or password not being accepted when I try to validate my account?
When validating, if you repeatedly receive the following message, “Oops! The username and/or password are incorrect. Please try again,” it’s likely the user name or password you are typing does not match our records.
Please submit a support ticket. In the ticket, provide your user name and the email address associated with your account. Viigo Support will send you an email with your user name and password that we have on our records. You will then be able to use this information to sign in.
How do I 'Sign In' to the MyViigo website?
After you have created a Viigo account using your handheld device, you can sign in to the MyViigo website to manage your content and services from your personal computer.
2) Enter your user name and password and click the Submit button.
I forgot my user name. How do I retrieve it?
Once you create a Viigo account, you are automatically signed in to Viigo on your device. The only other time your user name and password are required is to log in to the MyViigo website. If you don’t do this frequently, you could forget your user name, in which case you can request that Viigo email it to you.
Viigo will send you a “Viigo Forgotten Username” email with your user name in it.
Note: If you are using an earlier version of Viigo (earlier than Windows Mobile 2.3.35 or earlier than BlackBerry 2.2.69 and 2.2.70), your account does not have an email associated with it and so you cannot retrieve your user name using this method. You should upgrade to the latest version of Viigo at http://getviigo.com.
I forgot my password. How can I reset it?
When you create an account, you’re automatically signed in to Viigo on your device. After that, the only time you’ll need your user name and password is to sign in to the My Viigo website. If you don’t do this frequently, you could forget your password, in which case you can reset it.
Note: If you are using an earlier version of Viigo (earlier than Windows Mobile 2.3.35 or earlier than BlackBerry 2.2.69 and 2.2.70), your account does not have an email associated with it and so you cannot reset your password using this method. You should upgrade to the latest version of Viigo at http://getviigo.com
I was just assigned a new (temporary) Viigo password. How do I change this password to something I can easily remember?
To sign in using your new temporary password:
1) Run Viigo on your device.
2) In the “This password is incorrect” message, click Yes.
3) To sign in with your user name and temporary password, follow the steps in the Sign-In Wizard.
4) Click Finish to close the Wizard.
You are now signed in using your temporary password. The next step is to change your temporary to something you can easily remember.
To change your temporary password:
1) From the Viigo home screen on your device, click Menu>Options and select Account.
2) Click Menu>Change Password.
3) To change your temporary password, follow the instructions in the Change Password Wizard.
4) Click Finish to close the Wizard.
You are now signed in using your new Viigo password. You can use this same password to sign in to the MyViigo website. From here you can manage your feeds.
How do I change my primary address in Viigo?
Viigo uses your primary address to communicate with you. For example, Viigo uses the primary address for user account management. At any time, you can change this address; however, to do this, your primary e-mail address must already be validated.
To verify the state of your primary address, from the Viigo home screen, click Menu>Options>Account. Your primary address is displayed. If it is validated, nothing appears beside it. If it is not validated, "[Not Validated]" appears beside it.
As described in the steps below, the process for changing your primary address is to add a secondary address, validate the secondary address, change the secondary address into your primary address, and validate your new primary address.
Note: When you create a new primary address your old address is deleted.
To change your primary address:
1. Run Viigo on your device.
2. Click Menu>Options>Account.
3. Click Menu>Add E-mail address.
4. In the Add Secondary Email Wizard, type the new email address.
Viigo sends a validation email.
5. Validate the new email address.
6. In Viigo, click Menu>Options>Account.
7. Highlight the secondary e-mail address and click Menu>Make Primary Email.
8. In the Confirmation dialog box, click Yes.
Viigo sends another validation email.
9. Validate your new primary address.
What address is used when I email articles using Viigo?
Viigo does not use your primary and secondary Viigo email addresses to send artilces. Instead, when you send an article from inside Viigo, it is passed to the email client set up on your device and sent using that address.
Viigo is no longer receiving articles. What can I do?
Typically, when articles don’t update there’s an issue with your network connection. The easiest way to reset your network connection is to exit Viigo by selecting Menu>Close. In the majority of the cases, articles will start updating once you’ve restarted Viigo.
However, if your articles do not start updating within 5 minutes of restarting Viigo, you should reboot your device by removing and replacing the battery. Once it’s rebooted, restart Viigo.
If your articles still do not update within 5 minutes, check your network connection. In Viigo, select Menu>Options>Network. The Select Connection Type control should default to AUTO and The Current Connection Type should be set to BIS-B.
What do I do if I get an 'Unable to Connect' error?
This error occurs when Viigo becomes disconnected from the server.
To reconnect to the server:
1) In Viigo, click Menu>Close.
2) Run Viigo.
Why am I presented with a 'Permission Denied' dialog box when I try to start Viigo?
The Permision Denied dialog box appears if you have texted 'Deny this connection' from your Network Permission dialog box. To fix this issue, you must reset the firewall settings on your device.
To reset your device firewall settings:
1) From the main screen on your device, click the Options icon.
2) If you’re running Viigo on a 4.1 or above operating system, in Options, select Security> Options>Firewall.
OR
If you’re running Viigo on a 4.0 operating system, in Options, select Firewall.
5) In the dialog box that reads 'The application Viigo has requested an http connection to connect.virtualreach.com,', click the all http connections check box and then click the allow this connection button.
Note: If the Network Connection Permission dialog box does not appear, you may need to reboot your device by removing and replacing the battery and then restart Viigo.
What should I do if I get the message, "A problem occurred when trying to create or access your account..."?
If you get the following message, "A problem occurred when trying to create or access your account. There may be insufficient wireless coverage, or the server may be offline for maintenance. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please contact Viigo support." check your Viigo permission and make sure Email/Messaging and PIM are set to allow.
To set Viigo permissions:
1) From your Blackberry home screen, click the Options icon.
2) Click Advanced Options.
3) Click Applications.
4) Highlight Viigo.
5) Click Menu>Edit Permissions.
6) Under User Data, make sure Email/Messaging and PIM are set to Allow.
7) Save your changes.
What should I do if I get error code 401?
This error indicates an authorization issue. Check your network connection to make sure it is set to BIS-B.
To check your network connection:
1) Click Menu>Options>Network.
2) Verify that you're using the BIS-B connection type.
What should I do if my network connection keeps resetting and I continue to lose my connection?
Sometimes your BlackBerry service books get deleted or corrupted and this can cause connection issues on your device that prevent Viigo from working. Also, if you have travelled outside of your country and have had connection issues since returning, it could be because of a service book issue.
If your network connection keeps resetting and you continuously lose your connection, you should make sure that the "IPPP for BIBS [IPPP]" service book is on your device and working properly.
To check for the "IPPP for BIBS [IPPP]" service book:
1) On your BlackBerry main screen, click the Options icon.
2) If you're running Viigo on a 4.0 operating system, in Options, select Service Book.
OR
If you're running Viigo on a 4.1 or above operating system, in Options, select Advanced Options > Service Book.
3) The "IPPP for BIBS [IPPP]" service book should appear in the Service Book list with a check mark beside it. If it does not appear or if it does not have a check mark beside it, request the service book again. For more information see “To request the service book,” below.
4) If you have been travelling outside of your country and have had connection issues since returning, you should delete the service book and then request it again. To delete the service book, highlight "IPPP for BIBS [IPPP]" and click Menu > Delete.
To request the service book:
1) On your BlackBerry main screen, click the Options icon.
2) If you're running Viigo on a 4.0 operating system, in Options, select Host Routing Table.
OR
If you're running Viigo on a 4.1 or above operating system, in Options, select Advanced Options > Host Routing Table.
4) Check for the "IPPP for BIBS [IPPP]" service book, as described above.
Note: If you are on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), your BES Administrator may have to refresh service books so that "IPPP for BIBS [IPPP]" appears on your device.
5) If the service book appears, but you still cannot connect, reset your network connection.
Some publishers republish the same article several times a day. The titles of these republished articles remain the same or are modified slightly.
However, Viigo distinguishes between articles using their Globally Unique Identifiers (GUIDs) rather than their titles. Therefore, if the publisher changes an article's GUID and then republishes, Viigo identifies it as a new article and downloads it again. This is why you may receive the same article several times.
How do I add feeds to Viigo?
There are four main ways you can add feeds to Viigo from your device:
Browse the Viigo channel library for popular feeds
Add an aggregator like Google Reader, My Yahoo! or Bloglines
Directly using the RSS URL
Use one of several internet search tools
To browse the Viigo channel library:
1) From your Viigo home screen, click Menu>Add Channel.
2) Browse through the library by clicking the available folders.
To add an aggregator:
1) From your home screen, click Menu>Add Channe, and click Add your own channel.
2) Click Add Aggregator.
3) In the Add Aggregator Wizard, select the type of aggregator you want to add, and follow the steps in the wizard.
To add using an RSS URL:
1) From your home screen, click Menu>Add Channel, and click Add your own channel.
2) Click Add RSS Channel.
3) In Add an RSS Channel Feed, type the URL for the RSS feed.
4) Click OK.
To add using a search tool:
1) From your home screen, click Menu>Add Channel, and click Add your own channel.
2) From the list, select the search tool you want to use to add the channel.
How do I add an aggregator like Google Reader?
You can add an aggregator either directly from you device or from the MyViigo website.
To add an aggregator from your device:
1) From your home screen, select Menu>Add Channel.
2) Select Add your own channel>Add Aggregator.
3) Follow the instructions in the Add Aggregator Wizard.
2) Enter your user name and password and click the Submit button.
3) Under Aggregator, click the aggregator you want add, then specify your user name and password and click Subscribe.
Note: Viigo syncs up with the aggregator every hour and so there may be a time delay before you see articles. If you want to see articles right away, from your home screen, select Menu>Update All Channels. The feeds will update to show existing articles. New articles will appear as they are collected.
Does Viigo sync with Google Reader?
Adding Google Reader (or My Yahoo or Bloglines) will result in your Google Reader appearing in Viigo. However, there could be time delay before the articles from your feeds actually appear.
The reverse doesn’t happen. Your Viigo feeds will not appear in your aggregator. Also, any articles that you have read or deleted in your aggregator will not appear in Viigo.
Finally, Viigo takes the feed name from the publisher. This means that if you changed the name in your aggregrator, that name change doesn’t appear in Viigo. However, you can easily modify feed names from inside Viigo by highlighting the feed and clicking Menu>Edit Channel, then typing a name in the Custom Title field.
Does Viigo store my Google Reader user name and password?
Yes. If you want to subscribe to Google Reader in Viigo but don't want Viigo to store your Google user information, you can create a second Google Reader account, using a unique password that you haven’t used for other accounts. To do this, sign into Google Reader for your current account, export all of your feeds, then sign into your new Google Reader account and import your feeds. Once your new Google Reader account is set up, you can subscribe to it in Viigo. For more information, see "How do I add an aggregator like Google Reader?"
How do I remove an aggregator like Google Reader?
If you’ve added feeds using one of the following aggregators (Google Reader, My Yahoo! or Bloglines), the only way to remove the aggregator is from the MyViigo website. To access MyViigo, you must have a Viigo account.
1) If you have a Viigo account, sign in to the MyViigo website.
2) Click the X beside the aggregator heading you wish to remove.
How do I customize My Viigo to make it more useful?
After downloading Viigo, go to your Blackberry main screen and look for the Viigo icon. Launch Viigo and walk through the Viigo account creation wizard. This wizard takes you through the steps to create a unique username and password that will allow you to personalize Viigo and manage your channels online.
When the account creation process is complete you will see another script to give you a Viigo guided tour. This is just a quick guide on how to use Viigo. When the guided tour is complete you will now see the default channel list. These channels are there to give you a starting point. Feel free to remove any channels you are not interested in at this point. You can add as many channels as you like to Viigo with fifty being ideal and easier to manage.
1) Make a list of things that interest you and things you would like to keep up with.
For example:
News
Weather
Sports
Technology News
Politics
2) There are several ways to add more channels to your Viigo. For now we can start by adding channels from within Viigo.
From the Viigo main screen, click Menu>Select Add channel.
Browse our extensive channel library for popular channels by clicking on folders that interest you.
Example: Click on the Technology Folder to browse channels to do with Technology news and blogs.
Drill down the folders until you reach the last branch of the tree.
Add any channel that you find interesting there. You can add a channel by simply highlighting the desired channel and pressing on the trackball or scroll will.
If our channel library does not contain content from websites you visit frequently don't worry. It's simple to find and add content from your mostly visited websites to Viigo.
Simply visit your favorite website and check to see if they support RSS channels there.
Viigo has a desktop Channel management console to make it easier for you to manage your channels from your desktop.
1) Sign in to My Viigo (http://www.myviigo.com)
2) Now go through your list of favorite websites and check each one of them for RSS channels.
For example:
Say your favorite website is www.wsj.com
Most websites have a listing of all RSS channels available on their website. Look around or scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see a link that says RSS Feeds.
Clicking on this link will give you a list of all the RSS feeds available for this particular website.
Click on each one of them if you don’t readily see the url.
Example URL: http://online.wsj.com/xml/rss/3_7085.xml
Copy this link and paste it to My Viigo in the link that says “Add A Web Feed”.
Continue to do this until you have all your favorite websites added to Viigo.
On your device these links will appear instantly if you just click on Update all channels.
Viigo channels can easily be added and removed. Feel free to add any channels you like and remove the ones that are not interesting enough. You can also change the number of Maximum Articles you receive and the number of articles per channel by clicking on Options>Articles Select desired settings. Ideally, fifty channels work better in Viigo as they will update quicker and allow you to see the more articles in your favorite channels.
Why is the counter for All Saved Items always set to zero?
The counter for All Saved Items reflects the number of unread articles. Therefore if you've read all of the articles in this folder the counter is set to zero.

How can I tell whether I am running Viigo SE or Viigo CE?
Viigo comes in two editions: Viigo Corporate Edition (CE) and Viigo Standard Edition (SE). Viigo CE connects to service providers through a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES), where connection settings are specified; Viigo SE connects to service providers directly.
To determine which edition of Viigo you’re running, from the Viigo home screen, select Menu>Options. If you’re running Viigo SE, a Network option appears at the bottom of the Options list. If you’re running Viigo CE, the Network option does not appear in the Options list.
Should I install Viigo CE?
Viigo CE is for users who are on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES)that is restricted. For example, a BES that restricts the use of third-party applications. If the BES is "open" then users can install and use Viigo SE.

When I upgrade to the beta version of Viigo 3.0, will my feeds be preserved?
When you upgrade to the beta version of Project Tango, your customized feeds are disassociated from your device. Therefore, when you run Viigo for the first time, you will see only the default feeds in all services.
If you have a Viigo user account, the first time you run Viigo, a wizard appears that steps you through the process of signing in using your user id and password. Once you have signed in, all of your customized feeds will re-appear. Because you have to sign in to retrieve your customized feeds, you should write down your account information before upgrading, as you will use this information while signing in.
To locate your account information, from your Viigo home screen, click Menu>Options>Account.
If you are running Viigo as a guest user, any feed customizations you have made and articles you have saved are lost and cannot be retrieved unless you create a Viigo user account before upgrading. For information, see “How do I create a Viigo account?”

A five-day forecast for the city you’ve selected is now displayed.
Why aren’t there further details (for example, possibility of precipitation, highs, low, radar views, and so on) displayed when I click a specific day in the Weather service?
In the future, the Weather service will provide additional features.
I removed a channel or a city in the Weather, and it re-appeared again. What gives?
It’s likely you removed the channel in an area with no wireless coverage/limited connectivity. Ensure that when you add or remove channels, you are in an area with wireless coverage, so that whatever you do dynamically syncs up with our servers.
